Purpose and function of your profile: Your profile serves as your resume and application. When employers are browsing through candidates (you) they are looking to see who they feel is best qualified for their open position. When you hit “Apply” on a gig posting, you are sending that employer your profile. It is important to have every part of your profile filled out with the correct information in the appropriate section because when employers view applicants for open positions, complete profiles tend to have a higher fit score, which are put at the top of the list.
Work History
Purpose: To show employers where you have worked and what position you held.
Importance: To show employers that you have experience. Don’t have experience in the service industry but have experience in another field? Put it down! It’s better to see that have worked at all than to leave this part blank!
How To Complete: List past jobs giving each one its own place. Be sure to list the start/end dates. If you don’t know the exact dates, then give your best estimate. Now be sure to write a description of that job. You can tell us about your duties, the pace, the atmosphere, etc.
About Me
Purpose: You won’t always have the opportunity to meet with an employer in person. Since you have a unique personality we want you to be able to show it off! Your About Me section allows you to do just that.
Importance: Employers want to know what kind of person and worker they are hiring. It’s important to show your personality in this section so they can get an idea of who you are rather than just looking at a resume.
How To Complete: Tell us about your personality. Are you laidback or always active? Do you love the nightlife or do you prefer a casual dining experience? Do you thrive in a fast-paced job or would you rather be in a calmer environment? When you’re not working, what do you like to do for fun?
Education/Certifications
Purpose: To show employers your level of education/training.
Importance: Regardless of the gig you’re looking for it’s important to list your level of education and/or training (certifications). Listing any and all levels of education is better than leaving this blank!
Profile Picture
Purpose: To show potential employers what you look like and to draw attention to your profile!
Importance: This is important because having a picture will make you stand out in searches. Employers are 3 times more likely to choose to view a profile that has a picture. Why? It’s more engaging and personal. They instantly feel more connected to you because they can see what you look like.
How To Complete: Choose a few pictures of yourself that clearly shows your face. Select your favorite picture and set it as your Primary Image. This picture will now show up in searches and draw more attention to YOUR profile!
Preferred Hours/Preferred Employment
Purpose: To show employers when you are available to work.
Importance: It is important to let potential employers know when you are available to work and how often you are looking to work (ie Full Time, Part Time, Weekends, etc.).
How To Complete: All you have to do is select from the provided options! If you do NOT have a preference because you have open availability, then go ahead and select ALL of them! By doing so, you will show employers that you can work at any time. It’s better to show open availability than to neglect this step.
Location
Purpose: To allow us to help you narrow down your search. NOTE: Your home address is seen only by YOU. All that will be displayed is the city you are in.
Importance: Filling out your address will give employers a better idea of how close you are to their establishment. Also, this will let us help you with your search by alerting you of new postings that are located in an area that is convenient for you!
Wallpaper
Purpose: To spice up your profile with a personal touch.
Importance: This will make your profile even more unique. By making your profile more personal and memorable, you will stand out in employer’s minds.
How To Complete: Choose a photo of something you like! Your favorite vacation spot, your pets, family, anything! Be creative!
